NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board says a boil water advisory for the east bank of Orleans Parish has been lifted.

City officials say the results of bacteriological test released early Friday morning show the water in the city is safe to drink and can be used as normal for personal needs.

The precautionary boil water advisory was issued Wednesday evening when water pressure levels dropped below regulatory standards after a power outage at the Sewerage and Water Board’s Carrollton Water Plant.
