LIVERMORE, Calif. (AP) - An 80-year-old motorist who drove through a San Francisco Bay Area gym, killing a woman and injuring six others had jumped a parking lot curb before and stopped just short of the front doors of the same gym.

The Oakland Tribune reports (https://bayareane.ws/1NR1Ex5 ) Friday that investigators spoke to at least one gym member who witnessed the woman lurch her Mercedes SUV completely onto the sidewalk, drive about 30 feet and nearly crash into the gym.

Police were not called to that incident, the newspaper reports.

Police say the woman has not had a ticket in the past three years.

The driver was attempting to park at the gym on Tuesday when she mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, sending her SUV through the gym.

Lawrence Livermore Lab executive Kathy Baker was killed. The driver was not hurt.
