WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - An Atlanta-based financial services company has announced plans to cut about 300 jobs off its payroll in Waterloo - about 10 percent of its U.S. workforce.

Ocwen Financial Corp. said in its announcement Thursday that the cutback will leave the office with about 200 workers.

Spokesman John Lovallo says Ocwen decided to discontinue most of the residential mortgage servicing being performed in Waterloo. He says employees may apply for open company positions elsewhere.

Lovallo says the terminations began Thursday and will run into early 2016.
