PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - A former Walworth County state’s attorney has been sentenced to 50 years in prison on two counts of first-degree rape of a child.

KCCR-AM reports that 35-year-old Chris Jansen was indicted last year in state court on six counts of child rape. He pleaded guilty to two of those counts and the remaining will be dropped as part of a plea deal.

The charges relate to sex acts committed with three boys under the age of 13 in Blunt over a period of up to eight years.

Hughes County State’s Attorney Wendy Kloppner says Jansen not only abused the victims, but he abused his position and everyone he represented.

Jansen also faces three child pornography charges in federal court. A trial has been scheduled for early December on those charges.
