COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Investigators say a police officer shot and killed a 17-year-old boy during a family disturbance at a Fountain home.

The Gazette reports (https://goo.gl/AGqWzE ) two officers were called to the home near Fountain Mesa Elementary School in the northern part of the city Thursday afternoon. The teenager, who was inside the home, had a handgun, and one of the officers fired a single shot.

It’s unclear if the teen threatened anyone, and investigators have not said what led to the shooting.

Police Chief Chris Heberer says the other officer was outside looking for anyone associated with the disturbance.

The teen’s name has not been released.
