GRETNA, La. (AP) - A Larose man who police say confessed to stabbing and strangling a pregnant Terrytown woman has been found guilty of second-degree murder and first-degree feticide.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune (https://bit.ly/1Fxw2v3 ) reports that 31-year-old Emilio Calderon was found guilty Thursday in Gretna’s 24th Judicial District Court in the June 2014 death of 23-year-old Katherine Martinez and the baby girl she carried. Calderon will face a mandatory life sentence when he is sentenced Oct. 7.

Sgt. Jeff Rodrigue of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office testified that Calderon confessed to the slaying, telling investigators he flew into a rage after learning that he was not the baby’s father.
