CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A jury has convicted a New Hampshire man of trying to sell a 14-year-old for sex.

WMUR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1R6jpbP) William Shine of Franklin was convicted Friday in Merrimack County Superior Court in Concord on charges of child sex trafficking and endangering the welfare of a child.

Shine’s wife is facing similar charges; she is being tried separately.

During the trial, jurors heard from a witness who said he wore a wire for police as he negotiated to buy the girl.

The defense claims they were considering an arranged courtship, which they say isn’t a crime under New Hampshire law.
