PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a man found stabbed to death in Phoenix apparently was a robber who was killed by his intended victim.

Phoenix police on Friday identified the dead man as 20-year-old Thomas Marquell Kizee.

They say Kizee and 26-year-old Fernando Perea allegedly attempted to rob a male transient in an alley Thursday.

Police say the victim then stabbed Kizee with an unknown object.

They say the victim hasn’t been located yet, but Perea is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder because of his involvement in a crime resulting in a death.

It was unclear Friday if Perea has a lawyer yet.

Kizee was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Perea contacted police, turned himself in and told investigators what had happened.
