PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police have released the name of a man stabbed to death north of Philadelphia’s City Hall.

Police said officers flagged down by several civilians just before sunrise Thursday found 47-year-old William Vaughn lying on the highway bleeding from the chest.

Vaughn was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The stabbing occurred on Broad Street about a block from where a security perimeter was going up for the visit of Pope Francis to the city over the weekend.

No arrests have been announced in the case.
