ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Albuquerque police say a man acted in self-defense when he shot another driver six times during a road-rage incident, leaving the man permanently blind in one eye.

The Albuquerque Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1YFh50r ) 22-year-old Anthony Perez shot 34-year-old Jacoby Johnson Sept. 9.

Johnson, who lost his eye and worries he might lose a lung, says the altercation began after Perez swerved in front of his car. He says Perez got out of his vehicle and confronted him with a gun.

But Perez says Johnson parked at a stoplight and approached him first. He says he shot Johnson because he was scared for his life.

Police spokesman Tanner Tixier says after investigating, police determined that the shooting was a self-defense situation.

The case will still be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office.
