BEND, Ore. (AP) - A supervisor in the Deschutes County sheriff’s office is on leave while federal authorities investigate missing money.

Sheriff Shane Nelson said Friday that an internal audit this month found issues with the accounting of funds in several law enforcement accounts.

KTVZ reports (https://bit.ly/1Fn5RYq ) that authorities won’t say how much money is involved or the name of the person on leave.

District Attorney John Hummel said the money was missing from a multi-agency account and an internal sheriff’s office account.

The matter was referred to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Portland, which is leading the investigation.
