PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a suspect in a bloody north Philadelphia stabbing has been charged after he was spotted at the same hospital treating the victim.

Officers found a 49-year-old man in a pool of blood in a West Oak Lane market at about 1 a.m. Thursday. He was taken to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition with four stab wounds to his chest and torso.

Police said officers at the hospital approached a man with a head laceration and “he began screaming ‘I stabbed him.”” Police said they found a bloody knife in a pickup truck outside.

Fifty-six-year-old Loanell Ellington is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and other counts. A listed number for him couldn’t’ be found Friday and public defenders said to be representing him couldn’t be reached Friday.
