VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. (AP) - Storey County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the suspicious death of a teenage girl whose body was found in a vehicle they chased last week before it crashed near Virginia City

The Reno Gazette-Journal reported on its web site Friday (https://tinyurl.com/pj4ee6n) that the driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Elijah Henderson of Reno, was booked on suspicion of murder and his bail set at $120,000. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he has a lawyer.

The name of the dead 17-year-old girl has not been released. Investigators said they do not believe she was killed in the crash.

A deputy responded to a call about an impaired driver entering Virginia City at about 4 a.m. Saturday. The driver tried to elude the deputy before crashing on Six-Mile Canyon Road.

The Nevada Highway Patrol also is investigating the crash.
