TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - A Tusacaloosa man has been indicted on a charge of rape and kidnapping and two charges of attempted rape.

The Tusacaloosa News (https://bit.ly/1LCltIk) Joseph Spota turned himself in at the Tuscaloosa County Jail Thursday night. He is being held on a $300,000 bond. It’s not clear if he has an attorney.

Spota first was arrested earlier this month after being accused of raping a University of Alabama student after giving her a ride home. Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit Capt. Gary Hood says the woman told police the man claimed to be from a church group providing rides from sober drivers.

Hood says the two attempted rape charges are based on women contacting police after the initial arrest was publicized.
