NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A retrial in the rape case of two former Vanderbilt University football players will include an outside jury.

Brandon Vandenburg and Cory Batey were found guilty of aggravated rape in January. That verdict was thrown out when a mistrial was declared over juror misconduct.

The trial received extensive media coverage and was broadcast live on local television. Because of that, defense attorneys said an outside jury was necessary for their clients to get a fair trial. The new trial is scheduled for Nov. 30.

Spokeswoman Dorinda Carter of the Davidson County district attorney general’s office says jurors will be selected in Chattanooga and then brought to Nashville where they will be sequestered.

Two other former players also face rape charges in the case. Their trial has not been scheduled.
