KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) - A central Florida woman who was previously charged with giving false information to detectives investigating the disappearance of her 79-year-old mother has now been charged with murder.

An Osceola County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman says Amy Day was charged Friday with premeditated murder. She remained in jail without bond.

Detectives say Ora “Lea” Taylor Hawkins’ cause of death hasn’t yet been determined, but it’s being investigated as a homicide. Her body was found in a wooded lot behind her home.

Day was charged earlier this week with providing false information to law enforcement. Detectives say Day gave inconsistent accounts of what she had done on the day her mother disappeared.

Day is the ex-wife of Osceola County’s former property appraiser.
