BAIRD, Texas (AP) - Investigators say a Texas trucker and three men from California have died in a two-vehicle traffic accident south of Baird.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says a pickup truck early Friday failed to stop at an intersection and hit a truck towing a trailer.

DPS says the Texas trucker, 71-year-old George Earl Nowlain, of Valley Mills, was dead at the scene. Nowlain’s truck was hit broadside.

The pickup truck driver also died at the scene. He’s identified as 24-year-old Joel Flores Jr., of Anaheim, California. Two passengers also died. DPS says 48-year-old Fernando Ramirez, of Anaheim, was dead at the scene. Officials say 51-year-old Joel Ortega-Flores, of Anaheim, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Authorities say the weather was clear and road conditions dry during the wreck.
