WALHALLA, N.D. (AP) - The 50th anniversary celebration for the scenic Pembina Gorge State Recreation Area in northeastern North Dakota wraps up this weekend.

An event scheduled Saturday at the park near Walhalla will include free food, entertainment, door prizes and an exhibit on history of the area and other state parks. Anniversary memorabilia and other souvenirs will be available for sale.

The recreation area is located along the Pembina River in the Tetrault Woods State Forest. It includes a 12-mile multiuse trail that is open to off-highway vehicles, hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders.

Saturday’s party is the last in a series of anniversary events. It is being held in conjunction with Walhalla’s Pumpkin Fest.
