SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. (AP) - Police say a person driving a stolen vehicle led officer on a high-speed pursuit Friday night for about a half hour before colliding into multiple vehicles, then spinning out of control, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Officer Matthew Ludwig of the Los Angeles Police Department says the chase began about 9:45 p.m. in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood. The pursuit ended about 10:10 p.m.

KCAL-TV, which followed the chase from a helicopter, showed a dark-colored car ramming into vehicles stopped at an intersection before spiraling out of control.

Ludwig says officers detained one male and one female.

KABC-TV reports that a child believed to be under 5 years old was in the car. Police said the child was not hurt.
