DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - Police say an argument outside a Davenport convenience store led to the shooting death of one man and the arrest of another.

The Quad-City Times reports (https://bit.ly/1gXHZib ) that 29-year-old Brandon Smith was killed late Thursday night and 18-year-old Quantrell McDaniel has been charged with first-degree murder.

Police say McDaniel and another person exchanged words with Smith outside the EZ Mart on Brady Street around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Police say McDaniel then went to a home and retrieved a .22-caliber handgun, found Smith on the street and shot him in the chest. Smith was taken to a Davenport hospital, where he died.

Police say surveillance video from the convenience store helped lead to McDaniel’s arrest Friday.

McDaniel remained jailed Saturday and could not be reached for comment.
