CARIBOU, Maine (AP) - Maine state police and the medical examiner’s office say the death of a man found inside a burning house in Caribou was a homicide.

Officials say the body was found after Caribou firefighters responded to a house fire Thursday evening. Fire damage was confined to the interior of the home.

Steve McCausland of the Maine Department of Public Safety says the body was transported to the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta. That office, along with state police, classified the death as a homicide. The victim’s identity hasn’t been released, nor has the cause of death.

Police are asking anyone who saw activity around the house between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Thursday to call them.
