BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Enrollment is up at the Methodist-affiliated Birmingham-Southern College.

A statement from the private, liberal-arts school says full-time enrollment is 1,337 students this fall. That’s an increase of 13 percent over last year’s enrollment of 1,178.

The number of first-year students increased even more. The school says incoming enrollment grew by 24 percent with a total of 441 students new to Birmingham-Southern.

The college says this year’s group of new students is the third-largest in the history of the school.
