PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Dozens of people have already gathered outside the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia, where Pope Francis will celebrate Mass later this morning.

It will be the first stop of the pope’s weekend visit.

The pontiff is due to arrive at Philadelphia International Airport at 9:30 a.m. and celebrate Mass about an hour later.

Some of the faithful arriving early outside the basilica brought chairs. They are hoping to catch a glimpse of Francis entering.

Invited representatives from all 219 parishes in the Philadelphia Archdiocese will be present for the Mass.

Afterward, the pope will leave for the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. He’ll speak at Independence Mall later in the afternoon and attend the closing festival of the World Meeting of Families at night.
