NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A 42-year-old Gretna woman has been indicted for theft of federal funds related to aid received after Hurricane Isaac.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite, in a news release Friday, said Danielle Randall submitted an application for disaster assistance for damage to her apartment and personal property. After she received an initial disbursement of about $3,000, she continued to apply for assistance while falsely representing her rental address and housing expenses.

In total, Polite’s office says Randall received four checks totaling $10,951 to which she was not entitled.

If convicted, Randall faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. She also could be ordered to repay the money.
