AWENDAW, S.C. (AP) - Charleston County deputies are investigating after human remains were found in the Francis Marion National forest northeast of Charleston.

The Sheriff’s Office said in a release the remains were found about midday on Friday in the community of Awendaw and were confirmed to be human.

Deputies say that the case is under investigation and that the remains have not been identified.

They are asking anyone who may have information to contact authorities.
