GRANDVILLE, Mich. (AP) - A man is celebrating his 80th birthday by trying to run 80 miles at a park in western Michigan’s Grandville.

WOOD-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1KJNyJy ) that Ken Burns hopes to complete laps Saturday at Heritage Park.

Burns turned 80 Thursday. He started running at 5:30 a.m. Friday and planned to do the 80 miles within a 30-hour period. He’ll have company as relatives and friends are running with him and cheering Burns on.

Sharon Dryfhout tells the television station that “nothing stops” her father. She says Burns broke his nose after tripping and falling about three weeks ago but still finished his run that day.

Grandville is southwest of Grand Rapids.
