OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) - The interior of the mostly-empty Owings Mills Mall has closed.

The Baltimore Sun (https://bsun.md/1R8wFNf ) reports that a spokesman for mall owner Kimco Realty confirmed Friday that the mall’s interior closed Thursday. Spokesman David F. Bujnicki said in an email that the New York-based real estate investment trust is evaluating “various redevelopment options” but that no plan has been finalized.

Only a handful of stores had remained in the interior including Gymboree and Bath & Body Works. Anchor store Macy’s plans to close in November.

In addition to Macy’s, the JC Penney department store and AMC Theater in the mall remain open. Restaurants outside the mall including Olive Garden and Don Pablo’s Mexican Kitchen are also open.

The Owings Mills Mall opened in 1986.
