SENECA, S.C. (AP) - Family and friends of a 19-year-old man shot and killed by a Seneca police officer are planning a prayer vigil to mark two months since his death.

Supporters of Zachary Hammond will gather Saturday evening at a cross dedicated to the teen in front of the Hardee’s in Seneca where Hammond died on July 26.

The officer who shot Hammond says the teen drove his car toward him and he feared for his life during a drug sting aimed at his passenger.

Hammond’s family says an autopsy shows Hammond was shot in the side and back and the car had already passed the officer, ending the threat.

A prosecutor is reviewing the State Law Enforcement Division’s report on the shooting.
