WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - A Waterloo family of seven has escaped a house fire uninjured.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1gXGNeF ) that five adults and two children were home when the fire started around 8 p.m. Friday in an upstairs bedroom.

Battalion Chief Marty Freshwater with Waterloo Fire Rescue says flames were coming from the second-story window at the front of the house when firefighters arrived.

Everyone in the home had already escaped when firefighters arrived.

Flames spread to the rest of the second story before it was extinguished.

The cause of the blaze had not been determined by Saturday.

The American Red Cross was called to help the family with emergency shelter.
