NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a shooting in Newark that left one person dead and two others injured.

Police responding to a reported shooting found that three men had been shot in front of an apartment building shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sunday. They were taken to a local hospital, where 48-year-old Theodore Norwood of Newark, was pronounced dead.

Essex County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly says the other two victims are 21 and 31 years old and both from Newark. He says they’re being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Their identities have not been released.

The shooting is investigated by the county prosecutor’s Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.
