MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - Berkeley County plans to buy a former hosiery plant with an eye toward converting the property into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center.

Multiple media outlets report that the Berkeley County Council voted last week to buy the former Royce Hosiery plant in Martinsburg for $250,000. The property includes the building and two parcels of land totaling about 8 acres.

The vote addressed only the county’s acquisition of the property, and not its future use.

Council member Dan Dulyea says he expects the council will take a separate vote to decide whether to use the property as a recovery center.
