BOSTON (AP) - U.S. Sen. Edward Markey and White House Science Policy Chief John Holdren are coming to Boston College to discuss Pope Francis and the environment.

The Massachusetts Democrat and Holdren are featured speakers Monday, the first day of BC’s conference on the pope’s sweeping climate change encyclical.

“Our Common Home: An Ethical Summons on Climate Change” features speakers and panel discussions about how communities of faith can address climate change and the theological implications of the pope’s 184-page encyclical.

Markey’s speech is titled “Leading the way: the economic, technological and moral imperative for U.S. climate action.”

Holdren, the president’s top science and technology adviser, has advocated sustaining America’s position as the world’s research and innovation leader, linking research and industry to boost the economy, fostering medical advances and combating climate change.
