HANKINSON, N.D. (AP) - The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a 13-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was run over during a hayride in Hankinson.

The accident happened Saturday afternoon during an Oktoberfest celebration in the southeastern North Dakota city.

The Highway Patrol say the boy was on a flatbed trailer that was among two being pulled by a tractor going about 5 mph on the streets of Hankinson. The boy somehow fell off and was run over by the second trailer.

The boy was taken by ambulance part of the way and then airlifted to a hospital in Fargo.

The two trailers were carrying about 25 riders. The 59-year-old who was driving the tractor was not hurt.
