HALIFAX, N.C. (AP) - Halifax Muster Days, a new event in Halifax in northeastern North Carolina, is winding up its run.

The two day-event focusing on the town’s military heritage concludes on Sunday.

The event includes tours of the historic buildings and military encampments, presentations on local history, and a Revolutionary era skirmish both days. There are also craft demonstrations and period music.

An important part of the history of Halifax is the passing of the Halifax Resolves by the North Carolina provincial Congress in April of 1776. The document is considered a forerunner of the United States Declaration of Independence that was passed several months later.
