WOODSTOCK, N.Y. (AP) - The Woodstock Film Festival returns for a 16th year this week.

The festival is held in and around the famed Hudson Valley arts colony and runs Wednesday through Sunday.

Film maker Atom Egoyan will open the festival with the U.S. premiere of his new feature “Remember.” Egoyan also will be presented with the festival’s annual Maverick Award. His films include “The Sweet Hereafter” and “The Captive.”

Guy Maddin’s “The Forbidden Room” will be the closing-night film.
