HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - Authorities have identified a 46-year-old woman killed in a fire in Hoover.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said the victim was Cora Greene Smith.

Firefighters arrived at her story-story home late Saturday and found flames were already in the second story.

Smith was found unconscious in a first-floor hallway. Hoover Fire Executive Officer Rusty Lowe said rescuers tried to revive her. Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1NXLAts ) that Smith was taken to a hospital and later declared dead.

Lowe said the fire appears to have started in a first-floor kitchen.
