BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office says a 22-year-old man was killed when he apparently fell while rock climbing without protective gear.

The Daily Camera reports (https://goo.gl/0LBkr2 ) two hikers found the man Sunday morning below a rock formation in Boulder called the Fifth Pinnacle. The man, whose name has not been released, appeared to have fallen about 100 feet.

He told a friend on Saturday he was going to the mountain park to climb and would be back in the evening.
