CHEHALIS, Wash. (AP) - A Vader man who pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the death of a 3-year-old has been sentenced to over 34 years in prison.

Superior Court Judge Nelson Hunt sentenced Danny Wing Friday. Wing and his wife, Brenda, were convicted earlier this year of causing the death by abuse of Jasper Henderling-Warner at their Vader home on Oct. 5.

The toddler’s mother, Kikki Warner of Vancouver, had left the boy with Brenda and Danny Wing while she looked for a job and quit using drugs. An autopsy showed the boy suffered extensive abuse before his death.

Danny Wing said at sentencing he wished he could take back “his co-dependent actions based on drugs.”

Brenda Wing pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and other charges. Her sentencing set for Friday was postponed.
