WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts woman has pleaded not guilty to charges that she abused and neglected her boyfriend’s 7-year-old son.

The Telegram & Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1Fxdc7J ) 22-year-old Alexandrea Chadwick of Hardwick was arraigned Monday in Worcester Superior Court.

Chadwick and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Randall Lints, were indicted Friday on charges including assault and battery on a child causing substantial bodily injury.

Police called to the couple’s apartment July 14 found Jack Loiselle unresponsive and weighing only 38 pounds. Prosecutors allege he was abused beginning in June 2014.

Chadwick had not been previously charged in the case. Lints was charged earlier in district court, where he pleaded not guilty. His superior court arraignment is Oct. 21.

State officials say the boy remains unresponsive but in stable condition at a long-term rehabilitation facility.
