WILLISTON, Vermont (AP) - Vermont State Police have identified the motorcyclist from Massachusetts who was killed in a crash on Route 17 in Chittenden County.

Police received a call about a crash Saturday afternoon in Buels Gore, located at the southern tip of the county. They say troopers determined that 60-year-old James Acone, of North Reading, Massachusetts, was thrown from his Harley Davidson and struck a guardrail.

He was initially taken to Central Vermont Hospital by ambulance, then flown to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead Saturday evening.

State police say the motorcycle received damage to multiple areas.

The crash remains under investigation.
