JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Former Mississippi State football coach Jackie Sherrill and former Mississippi tight end Wesley Walls are among the six selections for the Class of 2016 of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.

The class, which was announced on Monday, also includes Southern Mississippi football player Willie Heidelburg, Southern Miss women’s basketball coach Kay James, Alcorn State basketball player Larry Smith and Millsaps football player Sean Brewer.

Sherrill won 180 career games at four stops, including Texas A&M;, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh and Washington State. He took the Bulldogs to six bowl games and won the 1998 SEC Western Division title.

Walls was one of the last two-way stars in college football, playing both tight end and defensive end for the Rebels. He also had a 14-year NFL career.
