PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Officials say a dozen people were taken to hospitals after a bus driver “experienced a medical incident” and hit a utility pole in west Philadelphia.

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority said the accident happened at about 10:10 a.m. Tuesday.

SEPTA spokeswoman Heather Redfern said the Route 65 bus was heading west on Lansdowne Avenue when it went out of control and hit the pole at the intersection with Haverford Avenue.

She said the driver and 11 passengers were transported to hospitals with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.
