CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Three men have been charged in a January shooting that prompted four schools to be closed while police searched for suspects.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail (https://bit.ly/1P3V7QA) reports an indictment unsealed in Kanawha County on Tuesday charges 29-year-old Gerard Maxwell of Rand with murder in the Jan. 23 death of 27-year-old Christopher Carey of Rand.

In addition, Maxwell and 23-year-old William E. Lyttle of Costa are charged with malicious wounding, wanton endangerment and attempted murder in the shooting of 28-year-old Latisha Crawford, while 32-year-old Todd Hodge of Rand is charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Kanawha County Sheriff’s Cpl. Brian Humphreys says Maxwell was arrested Monday night. Lyttle and Hodge were arrested in March.

It wasn’t immediately known whether the suspects had attorneys.
