GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Gulfport police have arrested a 68-year-old man suspected in a string of armed robberies that began in August.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1LLUnOW) Leon Ratliff Jr., of Gulfport, faces four counts of armed robbery.

Police spokesman Sgt. Damon McDaniel said Ratliff’s arrest was the result of follow-up investigations into four reported holdups of gas stations and a discount store.

Officers located the 68-year-old at his residence over the weekend and took him into custody.

In each robbery, McDaniel says the suspect entered the business, brandished a handgun, demanded money then fled after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash.

Ratliff is being held in the Harrison County jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.

Online jail records did not list an attorney for Ratliff.
