FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama state trooper has been charged with domestic violence and placed on mandatory leave.

The TimesDaily reports (https://bit.ly/1KPGjPe ) that Billy Slappey was charged with domestic violence second-degree criminal mischief and domestic violence third-degree harassment.

He turned himself in to Florence police on Monday and was released on a $2,000 bond.

Authorities said last week that a 40-year-old woman called to report an incident of domestic violence involving Slappey.

It was not clear Tuesday whether Slapper had an attorney. He could not be reached for comment.
