EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - A Canadian company has announced plans to purchase an El Dorado-based timber firm.

Canfor Corp. announced Monday that it has entered an agreement to buy Anthony Forest Products Company for $93.5 million. Anthony Forest Products owns a sawmill in Urbana in Union County, along with laminating facilities in El Dorado and Washington, Georgia. The company also owns chip mills in Louisiana and Texas with a total annual capacity of 800,000 tons.

The deal is expected to close by the end of the year.

Canfor Corp. says it is one of the world’s largest producers of sustainable lumber, pulp and paper.
