D.C. police say the death of a man nearly 11 years after he was stabbed has been ruled a homicide.

Police say Darren McManus of Northwest Washington was stabbed in the chest on June 4, 2004, on Sheriff Road in Northeast. Investigators say he was hospitalized and later released.

Authorities say the 54-year-old McManus was admitted to a hospital in April, and died on May 8. The D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled that cause of his death was complications of stab wounds of the chest, and the manner of death was homicide.

Police are looking for a suspect in the slaying.
