HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) - A Desoto County inmate was found dead in a holding cell at the jail.
The sheriff’s office, in a news release, said the incident occurred Monday evening.
The Clarion-Ledger reports (https://on.thec-l.com/1M0qGFF ) Chief Inspector Roger Hutchins identified the inmate Tuesday as 31-year-old Steven Mark Allen, of Horn Lake. He was being held on charges of grand larceny and burglary.
Hutchins said the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is handling the probe.
Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain said the case is under review.
