JENNINGS, La. (AP) - A Jennings man accused of fatally shooting his friend and dumping the body before going to a New Year’s Eve bonfire in 2013 has been sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb) 22-year-old Keagan Drew Reon was sentenced to 20 years on manslaughter and 10 years for obstruction of justice charges Monday. The sentences are to run consecutively with credit for time served.

Reon pleaded guilty to the charges in June under a plea deal.

Reon and 23-year-old Jules Patrick Batiste Jr., also of Jennings, are accused of killing Ruston Reed at Batiste’s home and covering up the slaying.

Batiste was sentenced to 6 years in prison in August after pleading no contest to a charge of obstruction of justice to manslaughter.
