RICE LAKE, Minn. (AP) - A northern Minnesota sheriff’s office says a man walking along a rural road was struck and killed by an SUV that drove away from the scene.

The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office says 35-year-old Russell M. Auginaush of Naytahwaush was hit by the SUV around 2:30 p.m. Sunday near the community of Rice Lake. The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1KNLSha ) reports the SUV drove off as Auginaush died in a ditch.

Clearwater County Sheriff Darin Halverson says the vehicle suspected of hitting Auginaush was seized later that afternoon at a nearby home. He says authorities are trying to figure out who was driving the vehicle.
